Fashion PR News: Magnolia PR Announces Client Casalinda Studio

hib-flowerMagnolia PR, a boutique firm located in Los Angeles focusing on fashion, baby, and lifestyle, has added recycled silver jewelry company Casalinda Studio to it’s roster.

The debut collection is inspired by California native flowers, mudcracks, and other natural elements. Casalinda pieces, retailing for just under $100 and up, use only recycled, reclaimed, and vintage precious metals, stones, and pearls. Any new gemstones and beads are produced in the U.S. or by Fair Trade Federation suppliers and the jewelry is packaged in recycled materials.

Based in San Diego, Calasinda is created by jewelry maker Linda DaPra, who draws inspiration from the mountains, deserts, and ocean of San Diego. The California native flowers pieces are influenced by the works of A.R. Valentien, who was commissioned by philanthropist Ellen Browning Scripps to paint these endangered flowers. DaPra is drawn to the dichotomy between rough, imperfect elements in nature and beautifully fashioned metal art, calling her pieces “little sculptures.”

fprfHow to make your fashion/apparel website blogger friendly (via Yuli Ziv)

  • Allow Grabbing Your Images. This is probably the most important rule, and most obvious one, but I still see many websites who are not allowing to simply right-click and save their visuals on user’s computer. Flash and sophisticated zooming tools work great for consumers, not so great for bloggers. Even if your website is Flash based, there is a way to include html/jpegs in a separate window.

PR? Interactive? Digital? Who owns  Social Media (via AdWeek)

  • So where does social media fall? The obvious answer is right in the middle of these three worlds, which is exactly why neither a digital agency nor the PR industry is equipped to deliver against the three-pronged imperative of community, dialogue and partnership.

Last Minute LA Fashion Week Review (via JC Report)

  • The fashion on offer may not have been particularly groundbreaking, and the organization may have been chaotic (we’ve overheard more than a few complaints from designers unhappy with the logistics behind the shows), but it’s important to keep in mind that this is the first time the BOXEight shows have been open to the public, in such a large space (the historic Los Angeles Theatre) and with so many designers crammed into such a short time frame. All in all, the event wasn’t the last minute disaster some were expecting, and it’ll be interesting to see what role it plays in fashion weeks to come.

So you know about Love but what about Lurve? (via Style Bubble)

  • LURVE is an independent magazine, led by a team of passionate people who were looking for a fashion publication ahead of trends and with more depth, yet visually striking. Miles away from the usual fashion glossy, the bimonthly magazine puts the emphasis on emerging designers and artists, new talents and creators of our future.
