Beauty Blogger, Jessica Flores, Domesticated Me A Brand Elixir Client Brief

A New Voice of Beauty: Jessica Flores, Beauty Blogger at Domesticated Me

Every now and then I like to let you know a bit about what I'm working on, beyond the blog (ooh! that's a good name for a something). For the past several months I've been playing with different ways to work with my "right kind" of clients doing my "right kind" of work. Right now this involves working with publicists, brands and bloggers to help them either launch a new project or evolve/punch up what they are currently doing, by helping them put name, story and strategy to their next step.

I call these full-day medleys of brand copy and strategy Brand Elixirs, and I'm in love. I find the work highly-creative; the chance to really dig deep into a new brand, business or blog, and then turn around a series of actionable and essential deliverables in about 24 hours, is just the right mix of challenging and fulfilling.

I'm thrilled that Jessica Flores, founder of Domesticated Me has agreed to share a bit about her Brand Elixir experience with the world. But before you read any further, you MUST head over to the PG&E New Voices of Beauty page and vote for Jessica. Just weeks after working together, Jessica is one of eight finalists in the running to become one of four Lucky Magazine and P&G beauty's New Voices of Beauty. The chosen four winners will become honorary New Voices of Beauty bloggers, which comes with a host of perks (a Lucky Magazine produced "A Day in the life of a New Voices of Beauty" video and  a years' worth of Cover Cosmetics as quick examples). So, pop open a new tab and vote for Jessica. Good job, now let's continue:

The Situation

A former comedy writer and event planner who found herself newly domesticated as wife-and-mother, Jessica's blog had gained initial traction largely based on a DIY brooch tutorial she developed during her pinup themed-wedding. But that was several years ago, and Jessica was eager to retain her wedding traffic while growing her own reputation as a beauty and mom blogger who was more Bettie Page than Donna Reed. Also, Jessica had recently transitioned to focusing on her blog full-time, and needed to figure out how to fast-track income opportunities for her blog. During our session we explored ways to upgrade and update her blog look and feel, give her a newly branded about page and bio, how to put Jessica on the radar of top PR companies, and ways to elevate her comedy background and connections to develop distinctive content that only she could produce (and about 100 other things). Here's some of what Jessica shared about the experience.

Fashion & Beauty Blog Consulting

What made you say yes to a Brand Elixir with me?

I had already come to the realization that I needed to make an investment in my brand in order to take my blog to the next level, and that PR is a crucial part to getting the brand exposure that would help me succeed. I needed guidance and a roadmap, and the Brand Elixir was everything I was looking for, needed and more.I knew that every penny spent in this service would be well worth it and IT WAS!

What was the most surprising part about the Brand Elixir process?

I could not believe how prepared I felt when I finished my session. I was full of new ideas and goals, but I didn't feel overwhelmed at all. I felt like I was given the map to success and all I had to do was follow and execute that plan.

What's changed since doing the Brand Elixir?

You helped me to view my blog as a business. Now, every time I write an article, I'm not only writing about the things that I love and believe in but I'm also thinking strategically about how each post will help me build my brand and achieve my goal of making a living through Domesticated Me.  For example, I'm now focused on providing products and services as a way to supplement my blogger income, something I wasn't sure how to do until our session. I also now have great brand copy to use when reaching out to PR companies in NYC, and have already seen some huge returns by introducing myself and participating at LuckyFabb with this new clarified brand direction.

Would you recommend a Brand Elixir?

Absolutely. Without a doubt. The Brand Elixir helped me clarify what my brand is and what my messaging should be. It helped me focus my voice and vision for my brand and website. If you're not sure what you should be focusing on or what your next steps are, the Brand Elixir can do that for you and so much more.

I can't wait to see what is in store for Jessica and the future of Domesticated Me. And just in case you scrolled through, vote for Jessica in the Lucky Magazine and PG&E New Voices of Beauty contest.

And, if a Brand Elixir sounds like just the personalized potion you need, please take a look through this page with all the details. If all looks good, shoot me an email and I'll get you on the books!

Meet Crosby Noricks

Hi. I'm Crosby, the founder of PR Couture and a fashion brand strategist. I care about supporting and celebrating fashion publicists as well as helping companies connect with their audiences in more meaningful ways. Recently, iMedia included me in their annual list of 25 Internet Marketing Leaders and Innovators, along with people from Starbucks, Twitter and Volkswagon, which I think is pretty neat. Like Elle Woods, I am a Gemini-vegetarian (that's about where the similarities end). Let's connect: Check out my full bio, Brand Elixer sessions or shoot me a note.
