Last year, Canadian non-profit Fashion Takes Action’s Design Forward award went to Nicole Bridger, and included a trip to NYFW and assorted other prizes valued at over $50,000. According to TreeHugger, in 2011 applications will be accepted from designers in the US as well, but the entire program depends on being able to raise enough funds to cover the PR, marketing and prizing for this year’s finalists.

To do so, Fashion Take Action has turned to crown-funding, and are hoping to raise $2,000 through Fund Change, which will be matched by a grant. If you support sustainable fashion, consider contributing or supporting their social media promo efforts (Facebook, Twitter), won’t you?
