How did you come to have the job you have now?
I started with an internship off of Craigslist and grew internally.
To date, what has been one of your biggest accomplishments in your career?
I’m proud to have grown internally from intern-to-director in 7 years at Lana Jewelry. The recipe was determination, humility, and passion.
What excites you these days about where the industry is headed / What concerns do you have?
PR will remain creative, and every day I’m impressed by the new, innovative ways brands are promoting themselves. I am scared that messages are becoming less authentic within a digital world.
What are your top 3 strategies for nurturing relationships with celebrity stylists and top editors?
1. Be yourself and own it. I’m not the most fashionable person, and I use that to my advantage. I am kind, dorky, and loyal. I will get the job done to the best of my ability, and crack a few jokes or make you smile to leave a lasting impression.
2. Say thank you – a lot. Don’t under estimate the power of making someone feel special and appreciated. Those emotions are what nurture strong relationships.
3. Before you try to get their attention, think “what’s one way I can make their life easier?” Send pitches with easily downloadable photos, beat stylists to the outreach by doing your research, and read all the details before hitting reply.
The recipe was determination, humility, and passion.
What are three essential products or resources that help keep you sane?
1. Candles
2. Barry’s Bootcamp
3. @thehomeedit Instagram for organizational inspiration
WITHOUT GIVING TOO MUCH AWAY ABOUT THIS SEASON OF PRGIRL, WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS FROM FILMING?
My favorite moment was taking the audience BTS of a real award-show planning meeting with Lana.
Thanks, Fallon!
