Jack + Bill, Porter Novelli’s pop-up Fashion PR agency, completed a very successful casting call last week. Over 100 emerging fashion designers, models, jewelry designers & personal stylists attended the two day hunt for New York’s next big fashion stars.

If you’re into organic clothing, you would have loved the collection from Ekovaruhuset, a designers’ collective that started in Sweden in 2004. Having opened in the U.S. in 2006, Ekovaruhuset was represented by four extremely talented designers at yesterday’s casting call. “All our fibers are organic and we try to keep production as local as possible,” said designer Meiling Chen. Ekovaruhuset’s lookbook was filled with stunning organic couture: dresses made of beautifully draped cottons and elegant wool coats. You can check out their website at www.ekovaruhuset.se or if you happen to be in the neighborhood, drop by their store on 123 Ludlow Street, New York.
Krislloyd Enriquez
Not all those who came to the casting call have the luxury of pursuing their passion full time. Krislloyd Enriquez manages the Children’s Department at Macy’s. A personal stylist on the side, Enriquez received an email from his boss, telling him to go to the J+B event. Enriquez dresses friends, manages Sweet 16 parties and stages fashion shows in his neighborhood in Neptune, New Jersey.“I know it sounds cocky to say but I can help people look good,” says Enriquez. “And I am going to make it in this industry.”
The staff at J+B were as enthusiastic as their potential clients. They admitted that they have a tough choice ahead of them. “I’m impressed by the caliber of talent here today,” said Erin. “It’s even higher than expected.” J+B plans to announce its decision next week. We will keep you posted!
