Jack + Bill Fashion PRJack + Bill, Porter Novelli’s pop-up Fashion PR agency, completed a very successful casting call last week. Over 100 emerging fashion designers, models, jewelry designers & personal stylists attended the two day hunt for New York’s next big fashion stars.

As previously reported, Jack + Bill is the brainchild of eight young executives at Porter Novelli, who received $150,000 from their parent agency to do a Fashion PR agency spin-off. Porter Novelli is not traditionally known for Fashion PR so J+B is testing the waters. So, is this new pop-up any different from other agencies representing up and coming designers? PR Couture stopped by Jack + Bills casting at Sandbox Studios to find out. Erin Osher, partner at J+B, insists that her agency does “PR with a difference.” “This is free,” says Erin. “And huge. We [her partners and her]have friends who are fashion designers, and we wanted to help emerging designers get their work out there.” Erin felt that many designers were not aware of the importance of PR, but after the two day event, she said she was surprised at the numbers who are.
Andri Park
Jack + Bill Fashion PRAmong the savvy designers hoping for a break with J+B, was Andri Park. The petite 23 year old arrived wearing her own designs and wheeling a medium-sized trolley bag. “This is Andri Couture!” she proudly announced, unpacking her bag. “My line is artsy, wearable and designed for the confident, cosmopolitan woman.” To prove her point, Andri proceeded to fit her female interviewer from J + B.
Andri said she started creating products for women at a very young age. When she was seven, she made her own fragrance: a mixture of crushed rose petals and her mother’s perfume, packaged in empty Kodak film cases. She sold her fragrance at school or traded it for pretty stationery. Andri has come a long way since then. She has just been hired by Caesar as the lead designer for their women’s hip-hop collection.

Ekovaruhust Jack + Bill Fashion PR

If you’re into organic clothing, you would have loved the collection from Ekovaruhuset, a designers’ collective that started in Sweden in 2004. Having opened in the U.S. in 2006, Ekovaruhuset was represented by four extremely talented designers at yesterday’s casting call. “All our fibers are organic and we try to keep production as local as possible,” said designer Meiling Chen. Ekovaruhuset’s lookbook was filled with stunning organic couture: dresses made of beautifully draped cottons and elegant wool coats. You can check out their website at www.ekovaruhuset.se or if you happen to be in the neighborhood, drop by their store on 123 Ludlow Street, New York.

Krislloyd Enriquez

Not all those who came to the casting call have the luxury of pursuing their passion full time. Krislloyd Enriquez manages the Children’s Department at Macy’s. A personal stylist on the side, Enriquez received an email from his boss, telling him to go to the J+B event. Enriquez dresses friends, manages Sweet 16 parties and stages fashion shows in his neighborhood in Neptune, New Jersey.1-krislloyd-enriquez-interviewed-for-personal-stylist.jpg“I know it sounds cocky to say but I can help people look good,” says Enriquez. “And I am going to make it in this industry.”

The staff at J+B were as enthusiastic as their potential clients. They admitted that they have a tough choice ahead of them. “I’m impressed by the caliber of talent here today,” said Erin. “It’s even higher than expected.” J+B plans to announce its decision next week. We will keep you posted!
