December 10th, 2006 marked the very first PR Couture post ever published. Remember when it looked this this? Or this? – me neither! I don’t know about you, but I’m using six whole years as an invitation to celebrate and say yes to that virtual (or not) third class of champagne, all month long. After all, birthday month should be a thing for blogs, too.
Goodies for You
- Ready to Launch is available on Kindle for $9.99 all month long (reg. $14.99). PS: That means you can read it on your iPad too.
- I have exactly 6 codes to save 30% off the PR Couture Fashion Media List Bundle, which comes with Pitch Perfect – making it about a trillion percent off (I can say stuff like that because I’m not in advertising, I’m in PR, right?!) The code is H6BD30
- Pitch Perfect is $6 off for the next 6 days (reg. $29) The code is H6BD6
The Runway of Nostalgia
When PR Couture began, information and awareness about fashion PR was limited to a few archived articles and few vague references to a MTV reality show (coughPowerGirlscough). Since I started writing, both the fashion industry and our own media consumption habits have shifted. I vastly prefer this world of opportunity and access, of DKNY PR Girl and live Twitter chats with Donatella Versace to the old trial by fire, elitest regime. Of course, the industry continues to experience hiccups, sartorial and social media misfires, as well as an all to limiting expression of beauty, power, and voice, but hey, there are rumblings, recognitions and resets happening all over the place. We’re in a good (haute) spot.
We have a Fashion PR Community
I’m so grateful to the other voices who have lent themselves to this space. We now have valuable veteran voices like Alexis at The PR Closet and Aliza Licht at DKNY and entertaining, day in the life PR Girl blogs like Adriana & Meg at NYC PR Girl and Lauren at PR Blonde. Fashion PR explorers like Yazmina at Girl with a Banjo and Sarah (who is still in high school!) at PR Ambition and chroniclers (and translators) of expert publicist voices like Laura at Chic Influence are reminders that creativity, building connections and consistently having the courage to share perspectives, opinions and information open us up to incredible opportunities, both personally and for the profession as a whole.
Thank You.
PS: And now for the freebie fun, check back this afternoon for a chance to win the first of three Fashion PR Essential Prize Packs. Yup, it’s time to celebrate!
