How do you prefer to receive pitches?

Email, marie@mariedenee.com

How far in advance do you work?

Currently at least two weeks out, unless the pitch is newsworthy and timely.

What is the best time to reach out to you?

The mornings are best to reach me. The day of week or time of the month does not matter to me, unless it is seasonal or timely.

What types stories/pitches do you want to receive?

I love receiving pitches on new brands, collections, partnerships, events (in California), and lifestyle products. But, all from a plus perspective. While I am a lifestyle blog and cover beauty, tech, and accessories as well, my audience is primarily a plus size audience!

What makes a great pitch?

I love to be addressed my name, for [it to be clear that] the publicist has looked through my blog and read my about page. I like when the pitch comes with images or a link to the download page with all of the resources there.

If you are interested in a particular fashion brand for coverage, what information/materials/collateral do you need to move forward?

A press release is always great, sizes available, release date, the links for the brand (including their social media links), and images!

What is the best way for a fashion brand/publicist to build a relationship with you?

Say hello and to return emails. Oftentimes, there are brands that I have a personal affinity towards and have featured quite a few times. More than likely I will email and say hello and share my love for them! On the flip side, I have received emails from brands that have noticed that I have featured them and they are excited as I am. From there, I like to build relationships and with those, I can open conversations to create more opportunities to feature them again on the blog or work together in different ways.

What is a guarantee that a brand/publicist will never hear back from you?

I have received emails addressed to other bloggers or genres like “Dear Mommy Blogger.” In addition, if it looks like they haven’t read my blog, I will email back and let them know its not within the scope of the blog. If they do not reply… then I know where they stand.

What do you wish more fashion brands/publicists understood about The Curvy Fashionista?

Asides form being a plus size fashion blog, my readers love all forms of fashion and tech. She is highly engaged (especially on facebook where my posts also sit!) We talk about shoes, hair, beauty, body image, and additional lifestyle topics! Being a plus size woman does not diminish the interest of other facets of fashion! Finally, I am also Southern California based and would love to be more involved locally! I get quite a few invites from across the US, and I always scratch my head about this!
