Florence is not only the focal point of the Italian Renaissance but a city embracing new technologies and new ways to communicate. A hub of cultural and style exchange, it’s no wonder the city sees its fair share of foreign students, particularly those studying fashion and art. Local university IED Florence now offers two different year-long master programs for students interested in advanced coursework in Fashion Events and Public Relations, as well as Fashion Communications and Marketing.  The Fashion PR & Events program gives students the opportunity to promote fashion brands, designers and artisans as well as gain insight into how to execute integrated communication strategies, including social media. This year-long program is held in English and starts in April 2013.

“Our Master course in Fashion events and public relations is designed for professionals and graduates who aim at gaining perspective on the newest and up-and-coming communication techniques. This brand new course focuses on digital media and viral communication techniques. Students will be expected to gain communication and event organization skills with an in-depth analysis and strategic approach that can be applied to any project in their current or future careers.” –  Alessandro Colombo, Director, IED Florence

One Year in Fashion Communication and Marketing

The Fashion Communications and Marketing course at IED Florence is in collaboration with LuisaviaRoma (a top Italian luxury e-commerce website) and starts in February 2013. This course focuses on the fashion industry and the central role of communication. Particular emphasis will be given to new media communication methods and opportunities, either through blogs, social media, web, or video as well as all the tools susceptible to boost the communicative power of any event, brand or product. Our students collaborate on projects with important brands as Fendi, Roy Rogers, Versace, and Emilio Pucci. The program ends with an important event promoted by Pitti Immagine, an organization that produces international fashion and lifestyle fairs.

“I would love to come back to Florence and the school is perfect for those who want to upgrade their career in fashion” – Victoria Papa, Fashion Communication Student, IED Florence

IED Florence offers space on its Web page to help students find and rent apartments/rooms as well as through Facebook and Twitter) and provides full support for the application/visas of students from non-EU Countries. For students looking to improve their Italian language skills, the school provides 20 hours of lessons with native-language teachers.
